Don't do it...gutter guards!

The Low down on Gutter Guards. It has been our experience with 1000’s of homes in South Jersey that they do not work well enough to endorse and install them. We have worked with every gutter guard on the market ranging from basic DIY sectional plastic guards, to the most expensive gutter guards on the market (you’ve seen the informercials) Things to consider:

Cheaper gutter guards like the DIY sections will always get clogged, the mesh is to open and will allow particles to get underneath. After several seasons, they will clog and it will cost you more money to have a contractor take them off, clean underneath of them, and then re-install new ones. The plastic will warp and they will be basically useless once removed.  By the time you add it up you could have just had them cleaned annually.

More expensive gutter guards… you will never see your return on investment. Any permanent fixtures type gutter guards are very expensive. A medium size two story home can be several thousand up to ten thousand to have the popular name brand infomercial gutter guards installed.  There is no extra “value” added to your house when you sell it, it’s a myth. Look at the pictures we have, even the gutter guards that prevent most of the material and leaves from getting underneath collect debris on top of the guards. Meaning you still will need to call a contractor to come and remove the debris. In essence, defeating the purpose of having them installed in the first place.  You could hire us to clean the gutters every spring and fall for the next 10 years and it will still not add up to the cost of installation for most permanent gutter guards. They are simply not a good investment.
